Abstract

Petani di Indonesia mengalami kenaikan harga pupuk serta efek dari pupuk anorganik tidak baik bagi tanah pertanian untuk jangka panjang. Salah satu solusi dengan menggunakan pupuk kasgot sebagai bahan campuran pada media tanam. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kasgot yang dibantu proses fermentasi limbah organiknya dengan fermentasi khamir Saccharomyces cereviciae Y-87 UNJCC dan Meyerozyma guilliermondii Y-159 UNJCC dengan diaplikasikan kepada tanaman tomat. Bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegunaan kasgot tersebut sebagai media tanam pertumbuhan tanaman tomat di fase vegetatif serta untuk mengetahui komposisi perlakuan yang terbaik untuk digunakan. Metode yang digunakan eksperimental dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL). Terdapat 4 variasi perlakuan kagot yang digunakan, yaitu: P1 terdiri dari kasgot : tanah : pupuk kandang sapi (1:1:1); P2 terdiri dari kasgot : tanah : sekam (1:1:1); P3 terdiri dari kasgot : tanah : pupuk kandang sapi (1:2:1) dan P4 terdiri dari kasgot : tanah : sekam (1:2:1). Tiap perlakuan diulang lima kali. Parameter yang diamati ialah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan diameter batang pada fase vegetatif tomat selama 5 MST, dengan pengamatan setiap seminggu sekali. Hasil yang didapat yaitu variasi perlakuan kasgot berpengaruh terhadap parameter tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan diameter batang. Dengan perlakuan terbaik pada perlakuan 2, campuran kasgot : tanah : sekam (1:1:1) pada 5 MST. Kasgot yang dibantu fermentasi limbah organik oleh khamir UNJCC Y-87 dan Y-159 masih belum bisa digunakan sebagai media tanam karena hasil uji kandungan masih ada yang kurang dari SNI. Sehingga perlu dicampur bahan lain untuk pemanfaatannya sebagai media tanam. One solution on this condition is to use frass fertilizer as a component in the growing medium. In this study, frass enhanced by the fermentation of organic waste with Saccharomyces cerevisiae Y-87 UNJCC and Meyerozyma guilliermondii Y-159 UNJCC, applied to tomato plants. The aim is to determine the use of the frass as a planting medium for the growth of tomato plants in vegetative phase and to determine the best treatment composition to use. The method used was experimental with a completely randomized design (CRD). There were used 4 treatment variations of frass composition: P1 consisted of a mixture of frass : soil : cow manure (1:1:1); P2 consisted of a mixture of frass : soil : husk (1:1:1); P3 consisted of a mixture of frass : soil : cow manure (1:2:1); and P4 consisted of a mixture of frass : soil : husk (1:2:1). Each treatment was repeated five times, with each repetition planting 3 plants. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter during the vegetative phase of the tomato plants for 5 weeks after planting on the medium, with observations made once a week. The results showed that the variation in frass treatments significantly affected the parameters of plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter. The best treatment was P2, with a mixture of frass : soil : husk (1:1:1) at 5 WAP. However, frass enhanced by fermentation with UNJCC yeasts Y-87 dan Y-159 not yet suitable as a growing medium due to test results showing some components still fall short of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). Therefore, additional materials need to be mixed to make it suitable for use as a growing medium. Keywords: growing medium; organic waste; fermented frass; yeast fermentation; tomato.
