Abstract

Pada penelitian ini, dilakukan sintesis ZnO murni dan komposit ZnO-ZnS melalui tiga tahapan. Tahapan ini diawali dengan sintesis ZnO murni dan ZnS murni menggunakan metode hidrotermal. Selanjutnya dilakukan sintesis komposit ZnO-ZnS menggunakan teknik kimia basah. Karakterisasi sampel dilakukan menggunakan Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) dan UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer. Hasil karakterisasi FE-SEM menunjukkan bahwa diameter morfologi ZnO semakin kecil seiring dengan penambahan massa ZnS. Hasil karakterisasi XRD menunjukkan struktur kristal ZnO murni dan komposit ZnO:ZnS merupakan struktur kristal cubic zinc blende. Hasil karakterisasi UV-Vis DRS menunjukkan nilai celah pita dari ZnO:ZnS semakin meningkat dengan adanya penambahan ZnS. Hasil uji fotokatalis menunjukkan bahwa persentase degradasi sedikit meningkat seiring dengan bertambahnya massa ZnS. Hasil ini menujukkan bahwa komposit ZnO-ZnS yang disintesis tidak terlalu aktif sebagai katalis. *** In this research, the synthesis of pure ZnO and ZnO-ZnS composite was carried out through three stages. This stage begins with the synthesis of pure ZnO and pure ZnS using the hydrothermal method. Next, the ZnO-ZnS composite was synthesized using wet chemical technique. Sample characterization was carried out using Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectrophotometer. FE-SEM characterization results show that the diameter of ZnO morphology is getting smaller along with the addition of ZnS mass. XRD characterization results show the crystal structure of pure ZnO and ZnO:ZnS composite is cubic zinc blende crystal structure. UV-Vis DRS characterization results show the band gap value of ZnO:ZnS increases with the addition of ZnS. The photocatalyst test results showed that the percentage of degradation increased slightly as the mass of ZnS increased. These results indicate that the synthesized ZnO-ZnS composite is not very active as a good catalyst to degrade Rhodamine 6G dye under UV-A light.
