Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan visual spasial peserta didik berdasarkan studi terdahulu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh virtual reality terhadap kemampuan visual spasial peserta didik pada materi ikatan kimia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari tahun 2024 di kelas X MAN 3 Jakarta. Dalam quasi-experimental non-equivalent pre-test/post�test control group design, dua kelas yang terpilih menjadi sampel, diacak dengan metode flipping coin untuk dijadikan kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen adalah X.7 dan kelas kontrol adalah X.8 dengan jumlah masing masing sebanyak 35 siswa. Tes kemampuan visual spasial menggunakan Purdue Spatial Visualization Test Rotations (PSVTR) berjumlah 20 butir soal. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa virtual reality berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan visual spasial peserta didik pada materi ikatan kimia. Dengan kata lain, virtual reality efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan visual spasial peserta didik. Berdasarkan temuan ini, guru direkomendasikan untuk menerapkan virtual reality dalam upaya peningkatan kemampuan visual spasial peserta didik. ***** This research is motivated by the low spatial visual ability of students based on previous studies. This study aims to determine the effect of virtual reality on students' spatial visual abilities on chemical bonding materials. This research was conducted in February 2024 in class X MAN 3 Jakarta. In a quasi-experimental non-equivalent pre test/post-test control group design, two sample classes were randomized using the flipping coin method to serve as the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class is X.7 and the control class is X.8 with a total of 35 students each. The spatial visual ability test using the Purdue Spatial Visualization Test Rotations (PSVTR) with 20 questions. The data obtained were analyzed by t-test. The results of the study show that virtual reality has a positive effect on students' spatial visual ability on chemical bonding materials. In other words, virtual reality is effective in improving students' spatial visual abilities. Based on these findings, teachers are recommended to apply virtual reality in an effort to increase students' spatial visual ability
