Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat efektivitas konseling kelompok REBT dengan teknik journaling untuk menurunkan stres akademik siswa di SMP Negeri Kota Bekasi. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 3 Bekasi berjumlah 8 orang yang dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling dengan kriteria: (1) Berada di tingkat IX; (2) Mengalami stres akademik kategori tinggi (skor 61-80); dan (3) Berminat untuk bercerita melalui tulisan. Pengukuran stres akademik menggunakan alat ukur Educational Stress Scale for Adolescent (ESSA) yang dikembangkan oleh Sun (2011) dengan tingkat reliabilitas sebesar 0,813. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian quasi eksperimen. Konseling dilakukan dalam 8 sesi yang terdiri atas pre-test, pembentukan kelompok, transisi, asesmen ABC, penerapan teknik journaling, evaluasi, penyimpulan, dan post-test. Kelompok eksperimen secara keseluruhan mengalami penurunan stres akademik dari 82% ke 62,5% yang artinya penurunan terjadi sebesar 19,5%. Aspek ekspektasi diri mengalami penurunan paling signifikan yakni 37 poin, yang artinya responden mampu mengembangkan harapan yang lebih realistis. Aspek beban kerja turun 22 poin, artinya responden mampu mengurangi perasaan terbebani akibat tugas sekolah. Aspek keputusasaan turun sebanyak 19 poin, artinya responden mampu merasa percaya diri dengan nilai akademiknya. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan Independent Sample T Test didapatkan niai asymp. Sig. sebesar 0.002 dengan syarat nilai p ≤ 0.05, maka H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dengan demikian, guru BK dapat memberikan layanan dasar mengenai stres akademik dan pengenalan journaling kepada siswa, serta menindaklanjuti masalah siswa yang mengalami stres akademik melalui konseling individual menggunakan pendekatan dan teknik yang sesuai kebutuhan. **** This study aims to see the effectiveness of REBT group counseling with journaling technique in reducing academic stress among students at junior high school in Bekasi. The sample in this study consists of 8 students from SMP Negeri 3 Bekasi, chosen according to criteria: (1) 9th grade students; (2) Experiencing high academic stress (score 61-80); and (3) Having an interest in storytelling through written form. Academic stress was measured by using Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA), developed by Sun (2011) with a reliability coefficient of 0.813. This research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. Counseling sessions were conducted over 8 meetings. The experimental group experienced a reduction in the level of academic stress from 82% to 62.5%, which meant a decrease of 19.5%. The most significant decrease in self-expectation was 37 points, meaning that respondents were able to develop more realistic expectations. The workload was reduced by 22 points, meaning that the respondents were able to reduce the feeling of being burdened by school duties. The despair aspect dropped by 19 points, meaning that the respondents were able to feel confident about their academic grades. Testing the hypothesis using the Independent Sample T-Test is obtained asymp. Sig. of 0.002 on condition of value p ≤ 0.05, it means H1 is accepted and H0 rejected. Thus, school counselor can provide information service regarding academic stress and introducing journaling to students, as well as follow up problems of students experiencing academic stress through individual counseling.
