Abstract

Guru laki-laki dan perempuan dalam pendidikan anak usia dini sangatlah penting mengingat guru berperan sebagai pengganti orang tua selama anak berada di sekolah. Namun, fenomena yang terjadi adalah jumlah guru laki-laki yang berada di taman kanak-kanak sangat sedikit. Beragam persepsi mengitari guru laki-laki di lingkungan pendidikan anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan persepsi pemangku kepentingan tentang figur guru laki-laki di Taman Kanak-kanak. Penelitian dilakukan di TK Labschool Rawamangun Jakarta, menggunakan metode studi kasus dan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Responden dalam penelitian ini ialah pemangku kepentingan TK Labschool yang terdiri dari kepala sekolah, guru kelas dan orang tua. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keberadaan guru laki-laki sangat dibutuhan di sebuah Taman Kanak-kanak, diantaranya yaitu membantu serta peran-peran pentingnya yaitu sebagai figur “Ayah” di sekolah, pengetahuan identitas gender, contoh (role model) gender, dan fasilitator kegiatan fisik motorik. Kemudian, responden memiliki persepsi bahwa kinerja guru laki-laki di TK Labschool sudah dapat dikatakan baik, bila ditinjau dari sebagian indiktor kompetensi pedagogik. ************************************************* Male and female teachers in early childhood education are important considering that the teacher acts as a substitute for parents while the child is in school. However, the phenomenon that occurs is that there are very few male teachers in kindergarten. Various perceptions surround male teachers in the early childhood education environment. This study aims to describe stakeholder perceptions of the male teacher figure in Kindergarten. The research was conducted in TK Labschool Rawamangun Jakarta, using a case study method and a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques with observation, interview and documentation techniques. Respondents in this study were stakeholders of TK Labschool which consisted of principals, classroom teachers and parents. The results of the study indicate that the presence of male teachers is very much needed in a Kindergarten, including helping to deal with roles that cannot be handled by female teachers such as dealing with tantrums in children or children with special needs, attracting children to learn and being needed in various heavy jobs and his important roles are as a “father” figure in the school, gender identity knowledge, a gender role model, and a facilitator of physical motor activities. Then, respondents have the perception that the performance of male teachers in TK Labschool can be said to be good, when viewed from some pedagogic competency indicators.
