Abstract

Penggunaan boraks sebagai zat tambahan dalam makanan telah dilarang di Indonesia. Apabila terkonsumsi manusia, boraks dengan dosis tinggi dapat bersifat racun. Namun masih banyak penjual yang mencampurkan boraks dalam makanan untuk: tujuan mengawetkan atau membuat teksturnya menjadi lebih kenyal. Sulit untuk: mengidentifikasi makanan yang mengandung boraks hanya dengan menggunakan panca indera. Diperlukan metode khusus untuk: mengetahui keberadaan boraks dalam makanan. Oleh karena itu dalam penelitian ini akan dikaji metode pendeteksian kandungan boraks dalam makanan menggunakan teknik Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS}. Dalam penelitian ini boraks (Na:zB401) yang berupa butiran dicampur dengan tepung terigu dengan variasi konsentrasi boron 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, dan 10% dalam 10 gram sampel. Sampel yang sudah digerus sampai halus kemudian ditaburkan dengan ketebalan sekitar 1-2 mm di atas permukaan arang bambu berukuran 20 x 20 x 5 mm3 Dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa keberadaan boraks dapat dideteksi menggunakan LIBS melalui identifikasi spektrum ernisi boron. Batas deteksi boron yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah 0,281 mg/g. ******************************************* The use of borax as a food additive has been banned in Indonesia. Ifconsumed by humans, high doses of borax can be toxic. But there are still many sellers who mix borax in food for the purpose of preserving or making the texture more chewy. It is difficult to identify foods that contain borax using only the five senses. Special methods are needed to determine the presence of borax in food. Therefore, a method for detecting borax in food will be studied using the Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) technique. In this study borax (Na2B401) in the form of granules was mixed with wheat flour with various boron concentrations of 1%, 3%, 5%, 7%, and 10% in 10 grams of sample. Samples that have been ground until smooth are then sprinkled with a thickness of about 1-2 mm on the surface of bamboo charcoal measuring 20 x 20 x 5 mm3. From the results of this study it was found that the presence of borax can be detected using LIBS through the identification of the boron emission spectrum. The boron detection limit obtained from this study was 0.281 mg/g.
