Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa berdasarkan tes awal kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dan wawancara guru matematika di kelas VIII-2 SMP Ksatrya Jakarta. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII-2 di SMP Ksatrya Jakarta melalui penerapan model Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan melalui dua siklus, masing-masing siklus terdapat empat tahap, yakni: perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi dengan teknik pengumpulan data dari hasil observasi, wawancara, dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran matematika yang diterapkan melalui model CORE dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas VIII-2 di SMP Ksatrya Jakarta. Kriteria keberhasilan tindakan pada penelitian ini telah tercapai. Nilai rata-rata kelas VIII-2 di tes awal sebesar 45, prasiklus sebesar 65,25, Siklus I sebesar 68,97, dan siklus II sebesar 75,17. Persentase siswa yang memperoleh nilai tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis yang mencapai kategori baik pada prasiklus sebesar 45,45%, pada siklus I sebesar 64%, dan pada siklus II meningkat sebesar 76% dari keseluruhan siswa kelas VIII-2. ******************************************** This research was conducted based on the lack of students’ understanding mathematical concepts ability which is proven by the result of interviews mathematics teachers and pretest that measure the initial state of students’ understanding mathematical concepts ability in class VIII-2 SMP Ksatrya Jakarta. The purpose of the study is to improve the ability of students’ understanding mathematical concepts in class VIII-2 SMP Ksatrya Jakarta through the implementation of Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending (CORE) learning model. This research is classroom action research which conducted in two cycles, each cycle comprises of four steps: planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection with data collection techniques from observation, interviews, and tests. Based on the result of the study reveals that the implementation of CORE learning model is proven to be successful in improving stundents’ understanding mathematical concepts abilities in class VIII-2 SMP Ksatrya Jakarta. The improvement appered by the fact that the criteria of success on this study are achieved. The average score of class VIII-2 pretest result is 45, on pre cycle of 65,25, improved on cycle I of 68,97, and reached 75,17 on cycle II. The percentage of students who achieved the good category on the ability to understading mathematical concepts on pre cycle was 45,45%, on cycle I was 64%, and on cycle II was improving to 76% from stundents’ of class VIII-2 in total.
