Abstract
Penelitian ini didasari oleh adanya siswa yang mengalami hambatan dalam membaca kata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa hambatan belajar membaca melalui metode fonik di SDIT Al Mubarak Rawasari. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah empat siswa kelas rendah dengan hambatan belajar membaca. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research) dengan desain Kemmis & Mc Taggart yang terdiri dari tahapan perencanaan, pelaksanaan tindakan dan pengamatan, serta refleksi. Data diperoleh melalui tes kemampuan membaca permulaan dan pengamatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pada kemampuan menyebutkan bunyi huruf, kemampuan membaca suku kata dan kemampuan membaca kata. Pada kemampuan awal nilai rata-rata siswa 78,82 yang termasuk dalam kategori kurang, dimana dari total 85 kemampuan membaca, 8 kemampuan siswa dapat membaca dengan mandiri dan 77 kemampuan dengan bantuan guru. Pada siklus I nilai rata-rata 91,95 yang termasuk dalam kategori baik sekali, dimana dari total 85 kemampuan membaca, 45 kemampuan siswa dapat membaca dengan mandiri dan 40 kemampuan dengan bantuan guru. Pada siklus II nilai rata-rata siswa 96,46 yang termasuk dalam kategori sangat baik, dimana dari total 85 kemampuan membaca, 59 kemampuan siswa dapat membaca dengan mandiri dan 26 kemampuan dengan bantuan guru. Siswa mengalami peningkatan nilai rata-rata sebesar 17,64 poin di atas kriteria keberhasilan yang sudah ditentukan yaitu peningkatan nilai 15 poin. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode fonik dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca permulaan pada siswa hambatan belajar membaca di SDIT Al Mubarak Rawasari. Oleh sebab itu, diharapkan guru dapat menggunakan metode fonik untuk mengajarkan membaca permulaan pada siswa dengan hambatan belajar membaca. Kata Kunci: Membaca Permulaan, Siswa Hambatan Belajar, Metode Fonik. ***** This research is based on the existence of students who experience difficulties in word reading. The study aims to improve early reading skills in students with reading difficulties using the phonics method at SDIT Al Mubarak Rawasari. The subjects of this study were four lower-grade students with reading difficulties. This research was conducted in two cycles using the Classroom Action Research method with the Kemmis & McTaggart design, which consists of planning, action implementation and observation, and reflection. Data was collected through early reading ability tests and observations. The results showed an improvement in students' ability to pronounce letter sounds, read syllables, and read words. In the initial assessment, the average student score was 78.82, which falls into the low category. Out of a total of 85 reading skills assessed, 8 skills were performed independently, while 77 required teacher assistance. In Cycle I, the average score increased to 91.95, categorized as excellent, with 45 reading skills performed independently and 40 with teacher assistance. In Cycle II, the average score reached 96.46, categorized as very good, with 59 reading skills performed independently and 26 with teacher assistance. Students experienced an average score increase of 17.64 points, surpassing the predetermined success criteria of a 15-point improvement. Thus, it can be concluded that the phonics method effectively enhances early reading skills in students with reading difficulties at SDIT Al Mubarak Rawasari. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers implement the phonics method when teaching early reading to students with reading difficulties.
