Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis struktur kelas, eksploitasi, kekerasan, serta ketidaksetaraan yang diterima oleh masyarakat dalam film distopia “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” dan “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana film membentuk kesadaran dan perjuangan kelas. Skripsi ini melihat eksploitasi dan ketidaksetaraan yang diterima oleh masyarakat sebagai proses menuju revolusi. Isu perjuangan kelas dalam kedua film dianalisis dengan metode analisis framing Zhongdang Pan dan Gerald M. Kosicki dengan fokus pada pemahaman mendalam terkait tema-tema besar seperti ketidakadilan dan perlawanan yang terdapat dalam narasi dan visual film. Penelitian ini dilakukan mulai dari Juli 2023 hingga Desember 2024. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari film “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” dan “Mad Max: Fury Road”. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan studi pustaka dan observasi atas dua film tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa film “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” dan “Mad Max: Fury Road” mengangkat isu-isu sosial dan politik sebagai tema-tema besar dalam film, seperti konflik kelas, eksploitasi, kekerasan, dan propaganda media. Masyarakat di dalam film hidup dalam penindasan dan penjajahan kelas penguasa. Untuk menumbuhkan kesadaran kelas dan perjuangan kelas, film The Hunger Games menggunakan propaganda media yang dibintangi oleh Katniss, sedangkan film Mad Max dilakukan melalui Furiosa. Perjuangan kelas dalam era modern mengalami perubahan bentuk dari yang Marx sampaikan. Indonesia Indonesia juga pernah berada dibawah kepemimpinan yang otoriter pada masa pemerintahan Orde Baru, di bawah kepemimpinan Soeharto. Indonesia masih memiliki ekosistem, tetapi sama dengan Mad Max, terjadi monopoli sumber daya yang diciptakan oleh pemerintah atas BBM dan LPG subsidi. ***** This research aims to analyze the class structure, exploitation, violence, and inequality experienced by society in the dystopian films "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." The study also seeks to explain how these films shape class consciousness and class struggle. This thesis views exploitation and inequality experienced by society as part of a process leading to revolution. The issue of class struggle in both films is analyzed using Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki’s framing analysis method, with a focus on in-depth understanding of major themes such as injustice and resistance found in the films' narrative and visual elements. The research was conducted from July 2023 to December 2024, with the subjects of the study being the films "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." Data collection was carried out through literature review and observation of both films. This research shows that the films “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” and “Mad Max: Fury Road” highlight social and political issues as major themes, such as class conflict, exploitation, violence, and media propaganda. The societies depicted in these films live under oppression and domination by the ruling class. To foster class consciousness and class struggle, The Hunger Games utilizes media propaganda featuring Katniss, while Mad Max does so through Furiosa. Class struggle in the modern era has taken a different form from what Marx originally described. Indonesia also experienced authoritarian rule during the New Order era under Suharto’s leadership. While Indonesia still has an ecosystem, similar to Mad Max, there was a monopoly on resources created by the government, particularly in subsidized fuel (BBM) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
