Abstract

Gastro kritik, atau yang dikenal sebagai gastronomi sastra, merupakan gabungan antara studi gastronomi, ilmu yang berfokus pada makanan dan tata boga, dengan kritik sastra yang bertujuan untuk memahami karya sastra dalam konteks tertentu. Penelitian ini memandang kuliner tidak hanya dikaitkan sebagai pemenuhan kebutuhan fisik dan apresiasi fisik makanan dan minuman, tetapi juga sebagai medium untuk menyampaikan keindahan melalui narasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara alur cerita, makanan, dan kehidupan antartokoh, serta memahami peran makanan dalam interaksi antartokoh. Pada penelitian ini, teori gastro kritik sastra milik Suwardi Endraswara menjadi landasan dalam menganalisis data. Penelitian ini membedah data dan mengaitkannya dengan teori naratologi Pamela Regis. Objek dalam penelitian ini adalah novel Mahika karya Aya. Metode dalam penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi kepustakaan dan analisis data. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan delapan pola naratologi Pamela Regis dalam novel Mahika karya Aya yang membentuk struktur novel serta peran kuliner yang dikaitkan dengan delapan pola naratologi Pamela Regis untuk memperkuat peran tersebut. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa kuliner dalam sastra berfungsi sebagai media untuk menggambarkan nilai budaya dan estetika, yang memperkuat hubungan antartokoh dan makna dalam cerita. Kata Kunci: kuliner, gastro kritik, naratologi pamela regis ****** Gastro criticism, also known as literary gastronomy, is an interdisciplinary approach that combines gastronomy—the study of food and culinary arts—with literary criticism to analyze literary works within specific contexts. This study views culinary elements not only as a means of fulfilling physical needs and appreciating food and beverages but also as a medium for conveying aesthetic beauty through narrative. The research aims to explain the relationship between the storyline, food, and character interactions, as well as to understand the role of food in shaping these interactions. This study employs Suwardi Endraswara’s gastro criticism theory as the foundation for data analysis, integrating it with Pamela Regis’s narrative theory. The research object is Aya’s novel Mahika, and the study adopts a qualitative research method. Data collection is conducted through literature review and textual analysis. The outcomes of this research is the presence of the eight narrative patterns by Pamela Regis in Mahika, which shape the novel’s structure. Furthermore, culinary elements are intertwined with these narrative patterns, reinforcing their significance within the story. This study highlights the role of culinary aspects in literature as a medium for portraying cultural and aesthetic values, strengthening character relationships, and enhancing narrative meaning.
