Cultural identity is an important element that shapes the character and identity of a nation. In the era of globalization, Indonesian youth are faced with the challenge of maintaining their cultural identity in the midst of modernization. This article examines how participatory communication implemented in the NGO IBEKA Pioneer Program plays a role in strengthening the cultural identity of Indonesian youth. Using a qualitative approach, this study collected data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The theory used is participatory communication theory. The results showed that the active involvement of youth in the participatory communication process not only increased their awareness of the importance of local culture, but also strengthened their cultural identity. The program successfully built the youth's sense of belonging and responsibility towards cultural preservation, which ultimately contributed to the sustainability of Indonesia's cultural identity. In conclusion, participatory communication proved to be an effective strategy in strengthening cultural identity, especially in the context of cultural preservation among youth.
