Abstract

The #FreePalestine digital campaign has become a prominent global solidarity movement on social media, yet its evolution across platforms remains underexplored. This study uses a netnography approach to map the dynamics of digital activism within the campaign. Data was collected from platforms like Twitter, TikTok, and YouTube between 28 June and 28 July 2024 using Brand24, which tracked mentions, user interactions, hashtag trends, and public sentiment. Findings revealed a significant increase in mentions and social media reach, with TikTok and YouTube playing key roles in expanding the campaign’s influence. Social network analysis identified influential actors who facilitated information dissemination. The study highlights the collaborative role of cross-platform interactions in amplifying advocacy messages. This research provides insights into how different platforms synergize to support digital campaigns, offering practical strategies for activists and policymakers to design more impactful social media campaigns. By mapping social interactions and hashtag trends, it emphasizes the importance of leveraging platform-specific strengths to maximize campaign reach and engagement. The #FreePalestine movement illustrates the potential of cross-platform digital advocacy to create global awareness and foster solidarity through coordinated social media efforts.
