Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui latar belakang serta sejarah perjuangan Guru Mughni sebagai salah satu ulama Betawi dalam berdakwah. Guru Mughni tinggal di daerah Kuningan, Jakarta Selatan. Guru Mughni memiliki nama lengkap KH. Abdul Mughni bin H. Saunsi bin Ayub bin Qo'is lahir pada sekitaran tahun 1860. Dikarenakan ketekunannya saat belajar agama sang ayah H. Sanusi memiliki keputusan untuk memberangkatkan Abdul Mughni ke Tanah suci Mekkah untuk lebih memperdalam ilmu agama disana. Di usia ke-18 tahun, beliau diberangkatkan ke Mekkah selama sembilan tahun. Kemudian tidak lama setelah kembali ke kampung halaman, beliau merasa kurang dalam mendalami ilmu agama, sehingga beliau kembali pergi ke Mekkah untuk melanjutkan rihlah-nya saat belajar ilmu agama. Metode yang digunakan untuk kajian penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian historis yang terdiri dari pemilihan topik, heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran Guru Mughni tidak hanya berjuang di ranah agama saja, melainkan terhadap kolonialisme. Guru Mughni didapati pernah memberikan izin atas rumahnya untuk disinggahi oleh organisasi pemuda Islam, Jong Islamieten Bond. Perjuangan serta peran Guru Mughni juga tidak hanya semasa hidupnya saja. Melainkan, terus terasa hingga saat ini lewat beberapa penerusnya yang sebagian dari mereka merupakan keturunannya. ***** This research aims to find out the background and history of Guru Mughni's struggle as one of the Betawi ulama in preaching. Guru Mughni lives in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Guru Mughni's full name is KH. Abdul Mughni bin H. Saunsi bin Ayub bin Qo'is. He was born around 1860. Because of his persistence in studying religion, his father, H. Sanusi, decided to send Abdul Mughni to the holy land of Mecca to deepen his religious knowledge. At the age of 18, he was sent to Mecca for nine years. Shortly after returning to his hometown, he felt that he was lacking in the study of religion, so he went back to Mecca to continue his practice of studying religion. The method used for this research study is a historical research method consisting of topic selection, heuristics, verification, interpretation and historiography. The research results show that Guru Mughni's role was not only in the field of religion, but also in the struggle against colonialism. Guru Mughni was found to have given permission for the Islamic youth organisation, Jong Islamieten Bond, to visit his house. Guru Mughni's struggles and role were not limited to his lifetime. They are still felt today by some of his followers, some of whom are his descendants.
