Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan isometrik terhadap penguatan otot quadriceps pada atlet Madani Karate Club. Otot quadriceps memegang peranan penting dalam menunjang performa atlet karate, terutama dalam melakukan gerakan eksplosif seperti tendangan dan menjaga kestabilan postur saat bertanding. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest yang melibatkan 12 orang atlet sebagai sampel. Instrumen pengukuran kekuatan otot quadriceps menggunakan alat leg extension machine dengan estimasi 1RM melalui rumus Brzycki. Intervensi dilakukan dalam bentuk latihan isometrik selama 16 kali pertemuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan rerata kekuatan otot quadriceps dari 31 kg pada pretest menjadi 34 kg pada posttest. Uji statistik menggunakan paired sample t-test menghasilkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (p < 0,05), yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara latihan isometrik terhadap peningkatan kekuatan otot quadriceps. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa latihan isometrik leg extension efektif untuk meningkatkan kekuatan otot quadriceps pada atlet karate. Kata Kunci: Latihan isometrik, otot quadriceps, kekuatan otot, leg extension, karate. ******** This study examines the effect of isometric training on the strengthening of quadriceps muscles in athletes of the Madani Karate Club. The quadriceps muscle plays a crucial role in supporting karate athletes' performance, particularly in executing explosive movements such as kicking and maintaining postural stability during competitions. This research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 12 athletes as the sample. Quadriceps strength was measured using a leg extension machine, and the 1RM (one-repetition maximum) was estimated using the Brzycki formula. The intervention consisted of isometric training conducted over 16 sessions. The results showed an increase in average quadriceps strength from 31 kg in the pretest to 34 kg in the posttest. A statistical analysis using the paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of isometric training on quadriceps muscle strength. Therefore, it can be concluded that isometric leg extension training is effective in improving quadriceps strength in karate athletes.
