Abstract

**** Shoulder injury, commonly referred to as Swimmer’s Shoulder, is one of the most frequent injuries in competitive swimming. It is primarily caused by repetitive motion and untreated postural dysfunction. This study aims to analyze the indication of risk factors for shoulder injuries based on posture evaluation using the APECS (AI Posture Evaluation and Correction System) application in young swimmers at the Pusat Pelatihan Olahraga Pelajar (PPOP) DKI Jakarta. The research used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The Sampel consisted of nine male swimmers aged 15-18 years, selected through purposive sampling based on specific inclusion criteria. Data were collected through static postural observations from the front, side, and back views, supported by video analysis of swimming techniques and each athlete’s injury history. The results showed that most athletes experienced postural deviations such as forward head posture, rounded shoulder, scapular asymmetry, and pelvic tilt imbalance. These conditions are considered biomechanical risk factors for shoulder injuries. Furthermore, the high intensity of training ( 3 hours per session, twice a day) without corrective postural intervention further increases the risk of injury. A total of 55.6% of athletes were reported to have a history of shoulder injuries, mainly experiencing pain or discomfort during swimming. This study concludes that postural dysfunction in the upper extremities particularly in the head, shoulders, and scapula plays a significant role in the mechanism of Swimmer’s Shoulder. Therefore, routine posture evaluations and the implementation of corrective exercises are essential strategies for injury prevention in the long-term development of young swimmers. Keywords: Swimmer’s Shoulder, posture, APECS, shoulder injury, young swimmers.
