Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan sediaan pewarna rambut dalam bentuk pasta menggunakan ekstrak bunga sepatu (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) serta mengevaluasi mutu fisik dan efektivitas pewarnaannya. Pewarna rambut berbahan dasar alami kini semakin diminati karena dinilai lebih aman dibandingkan pewarna sintetis. Tiga formula dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak bunga sepatu, yaitu 8%(F1), 10%(F2), dan 12%(F3). Evaluasi mutu meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, daya sebar, daya lekat, stabilitas simpan, efektivitas pewarnaan, ketahanan warna terhadap pencucian dan sinar matahari, serta uji iritasi kulit. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa semua formula memiliki karakteristik organoleptik yang baik, pH sesuai untuk kulit kepala (rentang 4,89–5,19) dan daya sebar yang optimal, serta daya lekat tinggi dengan waktu maksimal pengamatan 60 detik. Formula juga menunjukkan homogenitas yang baik dan stabilitas fisik yang terjaga selama tujuh hari penyimpanan. Uji efektivitas pewarnaan menunjukkan bahwa formula 2 (8%) dan formula 3 (12%) menghasilkan warna yang lebih pekat dan merata dibandingkan Formula 1. Pada formula 1 (8%), formula 2 (10%) dan formula 3 (12%) memiliki ketahanan warna yang tinggi, baik terhadap pencucian maupun paparan sinar matahari, serta tidak menimbulkan iritasi pada kulit sukarelawan. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis penelitian diterima, yaitu bahwa ekstrak bunga sepatu dapat diformulasikan menjadi sediaan pewarna rambut dalam bentuk pasta yang stabil, aman, dan efektif dan warna yang paling efektif yaitu pada formulasi 3 (12%). Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi alternatif inovatif dalam penggunaan bahan pewarna rambut alami yang ramah terhadap rambut dan lingkungan. ***** This research aims to formulate a hair dye in paste form using hibiscus flower extract (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) and to evaluate its physical properties and coloring effectiveness. Natural-based hair dyes are increasingly favored due to their perceived safety compared to synthetic dyes. Three formulas were prepared with varying concentrations of hibiscus extract: 8% (F1), 10% (F2), and 12% (F3). The evaluation parameters included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, storage stability, coloring effectiveness, color fastness to washing and sunlight, and skin irritation test. The results showed that all formulas had good organoleptic characteristics, pH values suitable for the scalp (ranging from 4.89 to 5.19), optimal spreadability, and high adhesion with a maximum observation time of 60 seconds. The formulas also exhibited good homogeneity and maintained physical stability over seven days of storage. The coloring effectiveness test revealed that Formula 2 (10%) and Formula 3 (12%) produced darker and more even color compared to Formula 1 (8%). All formulas showed high color fastness against washing and sunlight exposure and did not cause irritation on the model’s skin. Based on these results, the research hypothesis is accepted, confirming that hibiscus extract can be formulated into a stable, safe, and effective hair dye paste, with Formula 3 (12%) showing the most effective coloring result. This study is expected to serve as an innovative alternative in the use of natural hair dye ingredients that are friendly to both hair and the environment.
