Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E yang terintegrasi Artificial Intelligence (AI) terhadap perkembangan model mental peserta didik pada materi larutan penyangga. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas XI Kimia 04 SMAN 11 Jakarta dengan 28 partisipan menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam tiga siklus Learning Cycle 5E. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar kerja, soal tes, reflektif jurnal, lembar observasi dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi AI, khususnya pada tahap exploration, membantu peserta didik dalam memahami konsep larutan penyangga secara lebih mendalam. Model mental peserta didik teridentifikasi dalam tiga kategori, yaitu model mental inisial, sintetik, dan saintifik. Secara keseluruhan peserta didik cenderung berada pada kategori model mental sintetik dengan persentase tertinggi sebesar 43%. Model mental sintetik menggambarkan bahwa peserta didik sudah memiliki sebagian pemahaman ilmiah terhadap konsep larutan penyangga, namun belum sepenuhnya konsisten atau menyeluruh. Sementara itu, sebanyak 32% peserta didik menunjukkan model mental inisial, yang menandakan bahwa pemahaman mereka masih bersifat dangkal dan terbatas pada konsep dasar yang bersifat umum atau bahkan keliru. Adapun 25% peserta didik sudah mampu menunjukkan model mental saintifik, yakni model mental yang mencerminkan pemahaman konseptual yang akurat dan konsisten dengan prinsip-prinsip ilmiah. Distribusi model mental ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar peserta didik masih berada pada tahap transisi dari pemahaman awal menuju pemahaman ilmiah. Tantangan dalam penerapan model ini di antaranya adalah keterbatasan waktu, literasi sains peserta didik yang lemah, dan karakteristik peserta didik yang beragam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kuatnya dominasi model mental sintetik memperlihatkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran yang telah diterapkan yaitu Learning Cycle 5E terintegrasi dengan Artificial Intelligence (AI) telah memberikan pengaruh dalam membangun pondasi konseptual yang lebih terarah. Namun demikian, diperlukan pendekatan penguatan dan intervensi yang lebih intensif. ***** This study aims to describe the impact of the 5E Learning Cycle model integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the development of students' mental models in the buffer solution topic. The research was conducted in class XI Chemistry 04 at SMAN 11 Jakarta, involving 28 participants using a qualitative methodology across three learning cycles 5E. Data were collected through worksheets, test questions, reflective journals, observation sheets, and in-depth interviews. The results show that AI integration, particularly during the exploration phase, supported students in gaining a deeper understanding of buffer solution concepts. Students' mental models were categorized into three types: initial, synthetic, and scientific. Overall, most students tended to fall into the synthetic mental model category, with the highest percentage being 43%. The synthetic mental model indicates that students have acquired partial scientific understanding of the buffer solution concept, although it is not yet fully consistent or comprehensive. Meanwhile, 32% of students exhibited initial mental models, suggesting shallow or incomplete understanding, often limited to general or even incorrect concepts. About 25% of students demonstrated scientific mental models, reflecting accurate conceptual understanding consistent with scientific principles. This distribution indicates that most students are still in a transitional phase from initial to scientific understanding. Challenges in implementing this model include time limitations, students’ weak scientific literacy, and diverse student characteristics. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the strong dominance of the synthetic mental model indicates that the implemented learning strategy, namely the 5E Learning Cycle integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), has had an impact on building a more structured conceptual foundation. However, more intensive reinforcement and targeted interventions are still necessary.
