Abstract
Kata kunci: social dominance orientation, suku madura, suku minang ***** This study aims to see the comparison of Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) in the Madurese and Minang tribes. This study is a quantitative study with a data collection method through a survey with Google Form media. The instrument used as a measurement tool is the Social Dominance Orientation 7 Scale Short Form. The population in this study were the Madurese and Minang tribes. The sampling technique used in this study was Purposive Sampling. The number of samples involved in the study was 233 people. There were 102 Madurese respondents and 131 Minang respondents. The characteristics of the sample in this study were individuals from the Madurese or Minang tribes who were over 18 years old and were pure descendants of both parents, in addition they had to live in the area of origin of the tribe, Madura Island for the Madurese tribe and West Sumatra for the Minang tribe. Based on the results of the study, no differences were found in the SDO scores of the Madurese and Minang tribes. However, the researcher added additional analysis using the General Linear Model (GLM). The results of the analysis found an interaction between gender x income with a Sig value (p = 0.015) on the SDO-Dominance dimension and on the SDO-Egalitarianism dimension an interaction between gender x ethnicity was found with a sig (p = 0.017). Keywords: social dominance orientation, madurese ethnicity, minang ethnicity
