Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh self-esteem terhadap masing-masing dimensi forgiveness pada dewasa awal yang menjadi korban perselingkuhan dalam hubungan pacaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis regresi linear sederhana. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah perempuan/laki-laki yang berusia 20-30 tahun, sedang menjalani hubungan pacaran (minimal 6 bulan), serta memiliki pengalaman diselingkuhi oleh pasangan dan masih menjalin hubungan pacaran dengan orang tersebut. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel yang berhasil terkumpul sebanyak 154 partisipan. Variabel self-esteem diukur menggunakan Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Maroqi dan variabel forgiveness diukur menggunakan Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Inventory—18-Item Version (TRIM-18) yang telah diadaptasi oleh Amajida. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa self-esteem berpengaruh terhadap forgiveness hanya pada dimensi revenge motivations dan benevolence motivations. Pengaruh self-esteem terhadap revenge motivations memiliki arah yang positif dan terhadap benevolence motivations memiliki arah yang negatif. Pada dimensi avoidance motivations ditemukan bahwa self-esteem tidak memiliki hubungan yang signifikan dengan dimensi tersebut sehingga dapat disimpulkan tidak terdapat pengaruh antara self-esteem terhadap avoidance motivations. ***** This study aims to examine the effect of self-esteem on each dimension of forgiveness in young adults who have experienced infidelity in romantic relationships. The research employed a quantitative method using simple linear regression analysis. Participants were men and women aged 20–30 years who had been in a romantic relationship (for at least six months), had experienced infidelity by their partner, and were still in a relationship with that partner. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total of 154 participants successfully recruited. Self-esteem was measured using the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) adapted by Maroqi, and forgiveness was measured using the 18-item version of the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivations Inventory (TRIM-18) adapted by Amajida. The results showed that self-esteem significantly influenced forgiveness only in the dimensions of revenge motivation and benevolence motivation. The influence of self-esteem on revenge motivation was positive, whereas its influence on benevolence motivation was negative. In the avoidance motivation dimension, self-esteem was found to have no significant relationship, indicating no effect between self-esteem and avoidance motivation.
