Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh penggunaan virtual reality laboratory (VRL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada topik kesetimbangan kimia. Sampel yang dijadikan objek penelitian ini merupakan siswa kelas XI Kimia (N = 72) di sebuah SMA negeri di Jakarta. Dalam desain quasi-experiment, dua kelas dilibatkan sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang melakukan pembelajaran menggunakan VRL dan kelompok kontrol yang melakukan pembelajaran menggunakan video praktikum. Kuesioner kemampuan pemecahan masalah digunakan sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan independent t-test dan paired t-test. Hasil independent t-test menunjukan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan terhadap rata-rata skor post-test antara kelas ekperimen dan kelas kontrol (p = 0,034). Selain itu, hasil paired t-test menunjukan bahwa peningkatan rata-rata skor dari pre-test ke post-test yang signifikan hanya terjadi pada kelas ekperimen (p = 0,001), sedangkan kelas kontrol tidak menunjukan peningkatan yang signifikan (p = 0,270). Berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpukan bahwa penggunaan VRL dalam pembelajaran mampu memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa. Konten-konten VRL yang bersifat imersif, imajinasi, dan interaksi real-time terbukti efektif dalam membantu siswa menghubungkan konsep makroskopik, mikroskopik, dan simbolik pada pembelajaran kesetimbangan kimia. Temuan penelitian ini mendukung integrasi VRL sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif dalam pembelajaran kimia di jenjang pendidikan menengah yang mampu memperkuat penguasaan keterampilan abad ke-21, khususnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah. ***** This study aims to determine the effect of the use of virtual reality laboratory (VRL) on students' problem-solving abilities on the topic of chemical equilibrium. The sample used as the object of this study were 11th grade Chemistry students (N = 72) at a public high school in Jakarta. In a quasi-experimental design, two classes were involved as an experimental group that conducted learning using VRL and a control group that conducted learning using video practicum. A problem-solving ability questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. Quantitative data were analyzed using independent t-test and paired t-test. The results of the independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference in the average post-test score between the experimental and control classes (p = 0.034). In addition, the results of the paired t-test showed that a significant increase in the average score from pre-test to post-test only occurred in the experimental class (p = 0.001), while the control class did not show a significant increase (p = 0.270). Based on those results, it can be concluded that the use of VRL in learning have a positive influence on improving students' problem-solving abilities. The immersive, imaginative, and real-time interactive nature of VRL content has been shown to be effective in helping students connect macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic concepts in chemical equilibrium learning. The findings of this study support the integration of VRL as an innovative learning medium in secondary education chemistry lessons that can strengthen the mastery of 21st-century skills, particularly problem-solving abilities.
