Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji hubungan antara kompetensi sosial emosional dan emosi akademik pada peserta didik Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Negeri di DKI Jakarta. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Sampel sebanyak 5.564 peserta didik yang diperoleh melalui teknik convenience sampling dari 15 SMP Negeri yang tersebar di tiga wilayah administratif. Instrumen pengumpulan data meliputi SECQ (Social Emotional Competence Questionnaire) dan AEQ (Achievement Emotion Questionnaire). Analisis dilakukan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman karena data tidak memenuhi asumsi normalitas dan linearitas. Peserta didik menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi sosial emosional peserta didik mencapai 72,48% dari skor ideal, dengan emosi akademik positif sebesar 82,80% dan emosi negatif sebesar 51,37%. Emosi akademik positif, terutama enjoyment, cenderung lebih dominan dibandingkan emosi negatif seperti anger dan anxiety. Analisis korelasi menunjukkan hubungan moderat positif yang signifikan antara kompetensi sosial emosional dan emosi akademik (r = 0,406; p < 0,01). Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa penguatan kompetensi sosial emosional mendukung tumbuhnya rasa senang dan menurunkan rasa marah/kesal, cemas dalam kegiatan belajar. ***** This study aims to examine the relationship between social-emotional competence and academic emotions among students in public junior high schools in the DKI Jakarta. The research employed a quantitative approach using a correlational method. A total of 5,564 students were selected through convenience sampling from 15 public schools across three administrative regions. Data were collected using the Social Emotional Competence Questionnaire (SECQ) and the Achievement Emotion Questionnaire (AEQ). Data analysis was conducted using Spearman’s correlation test due to violations of normality and linearity assumptions. The students’ social-emotional competence reached 72.48% of the ideal score, while positive academic emotions were at 82.80% and negative academic emotions at 51.37%. Positive academic emotions, particularly enjoyment, were more prominent than negative emotions such as anger and anxiety. The correlation analysis revealed a significant moderate positive relationship between social-emotional competence and academic emotions (r = 0.406; p < 0.01). These findings affirm that strengthening social-emotional competencies supports the development of enjoyment and reduces feelings of anger/frustration and anxiety during learning activities.
