Abstract
Penelitian dan pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran interaktif berupa flipbook digital berjudul “Rotasi Bumi: Mengapa Terjadi Siang dan Malam?” yang dirancang untuk membantu peserta didik tunarungu memahami konsep rotasi bumi secara menyeluruh. Proses pengembangan dilakukan dengan mengadaptasi tahapan awal dari model Borg & Gall, yaitu research and information collecting, serta mengintegrasikan model pengembangan ADDIE secara menyeluruh, yang meliputi tahap analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara awal, diketahui bahwa peserta didik tunarungu mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami materi rotasi bumi yang bersifat abstrak karena pembelajaran yang diberikan belum sepenuhnya berbasis visual dan konkret. Untuk menjawab kebutuhan tersebut, dikembangkan media flipbook digital berbasis cerita visual yang dilengkapi dengan teks cerita sederhana, tulisan tegak bersambung, ilustrasi menarik, video penjelasan menggunakan bahasa isyarat SIBI, serta fitur interaktif seperti “Ayo Belajar!”, “Ayo Mengamati!”, “Ayo Mencoba!”, “Ayo Berlatih!”, “Ayo Refleksi!”, rangkuman materi, dan QR Code yang terhubung ke latihan soal di platform Quizizz. Validasi kelayakan dilakukan oleh tiga ahli, yaitu ahli media (93,6%), ahli materi (88%), dan ahli tunarungu (98,3%), yang secara keseluruhan menunjukkan bahwa media berada dalam kategori sangat layak. Uji coba terbatas (one-to-one) dilakukan pada tiga peserta didik tunarungu kelas VIII di SLB Negeri 02 Jakarta, serta melibatkan satu guru kelas sebagai responden. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan respon positif dari peserta didik, yang ditunjukkan melalui peningkatan keterlibatan saat pembelajaran, kemauan untuk mengulang membaca materi, dan antusiasme saat mencoba fitur interaktif. Rata-rata skor kepraktisan dari peserta didik mencapai 90%, sedangkan guru memberikan penilaian kepraktisan 100%, karena media mudah digunakan, tidak memerlukan instalasi khusus, serta dapat diakses di berbagai perangkat seperti laptop maupun tablet. Media juga dinilai menarik, karena menyajikan tampilan visual berwarna, alur cerita yang kontekstual, serta ilustrasi yang mendukung pemahaman. Flipbook ini juga dinilai sesuai dengan kebutuhan peserta didik tunarungu, karena mengutamakan unsur visual, menggunakan kalimat singkat dan jelas, serta menyediakan dukungan bahasa isyarat sebagai bentuk aksesibilitas komunikasi. Dengan demikian, hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media flipbook digital yang dikembangkan sangat layak dan sesuai dengan karakteristik belajar peserta didik tunarungu, serta dapat menjadi alternatif media inovatif dalam pembelajaran IPA, khususnya dalam memahami konsep rotasi bumi. Kata Kunci: Flipbook digital, rotasi bumi, peserta didik tunarungu, media visual, Pengembangan ADDIE, bahasa isyarat SIBI, pemahaman konsep ***** This research and development aims to produce an interactive learning media in the form of a digital flipbook titled “Earth’s Rotation: Why Do Day and Night Occur?”, designed to help deaf students comprehensively understand the concept of Earth's rotation. The development process adopts the initial stage of the Borg & Gall model—research and information collecting—and integrates the full stages of the ADDIE development model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Based on preliminary observations and interviews, it was found that deaf students face difficulties in understanding the abstract concept of Earth's rotation due to the lack of visual and concrete-based learning. To address this need, a digital flipbook was developed using a visual storytelling approach, complemented by simple narrative texts, cursive writing, engaging illustrations, explanatory videos in Indonesian Sign Language (SIBI), and interactive features such as “Let’s Learn!”, “Let’s Observe!”, “Let’s Try!”, “Let’s Practice!”, “Let’s Reflect!”, a summary section, and a QR Code linked to Quizizz-based practice questions. Feasibility validation was conducted by three experts: media expert (93.6%), material expert (88%), and special education expert for the deaf (98.3%), all indicating the media as highly feasible. A limited trial (one-to-one) was conducted with three Grade VIII deaf students at SLB Negeri 02 Jakarta and involved one classroom teacher as a respondent. The results showed positive responses from the students, reflected in increased engagement, willingness to reread the materials, and enthusiasm in exploring interactive features. The average practicality score from students reached 90%, while the teacher rated it at 100%, noting the ease of use, no need for special installation, and accessibility across devices such as laptops and tablets. The media was also considered attractive due to its colorful visuals, contextual storytelling flow, and illustrations that support conceptual understanding. Moreover, the flipbook is aligned with the needs of deaf students by prioritizing visual elements, using concise and clear sentences, and providing sign language support as a means of communication accessibility. Thus, the results indicate that the developed digital flipbook is highly feasible, aligns with the learning characteristics of deaf students, and can serve as an innovative alternative media in science learning, particularly in understanding the concept of Earth's rotation.
