Abstract
Anak berkebutuhan khusus merupakan bagian dari masyarakat yang membutuhkan perhatian dan penerimaan penuh, terutama dari orang tua sebagai lingkungan terdekat. Sikap orang tua dalam menerima keberadaan anak berkebutuhan khusus sangat berpengaruh terhadap tumbuh kembang anak baik secara emosional, sosial, maupun pendidikan. Dalam konteks masyarakat kepulauan seperti Kelurahan Pulau Panggang, penerimaan terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus menjadi tantangan tersendiri karena terbatasnya akses informasi dan fasilitas pendukung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana sikap orang tua dalam menerima anak berkebutuhan khusus di Kelurahan Pulau Panggang. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan metode survei. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner tertutup yang memuat 40 item pernyataan yang mencakup tiga komponen sikap, yaitu kognitif, afektif, dan konatif. Responden berjumlah 87 orang tua yang dipilih secara representatif dari wilayah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas orang tua memiliki sikap yang sangat positif dalam menerima anak berkebutuhan khusus. Sebanyak 65% responden berada pada kategori sikap sangat tinggi, 26% dalam kategori tinggi, dan 8% dalam kategori sedang. Tidak terdapat responden dalam kategori sikap rendah. Ketiga komponen sikap menunjukkan rata-rata skor lebih dari 86% dari skor maksimal. Faktor pendidikan dan gender juga memengaruhi perbedaan sikap, di mana orang tua berpendidikan tinggi menunjukkan sikap yang lebih positif. The attitude of parents in accepting the existence of children with special needs greatly affects the growth and development of children both emotionally, socially and educationally. In the context of island communities such as Pulau Panggang Village, acceptance of children with special needs is a challenge due to limited access to information and supporting facilities. This study aims to determine and describe how parents' attitudes towards accepting children with special needs in Pulau Panggang Village. The research used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The research instrument was a closed questionnaire containing 40 statement items covering three attitude components, namely cognitive, affective, and conative. Respondents totaled 87 parents who were selected representatively from the area. The results showed that the majority of parents had a very positive attitude in accepting children with special needs. A total of 65% of respondents were in the very high attitude category, 26% in the high category, and 8% in the medium category. There were no respondents in the low attitude category. The three attitude components showed an average score of more than 86% of the maximum score. Education and gender factors also influenced the differences in attitudes, where highly educated parents showed more positive attitudes.
