Abstract

Kata kunci: stres akademik, regulasi diri dalam pembelajaran, prokrastinasi akademik (*****) This study aims to examine the relationship between academic stress and self-regulation in learning with academic procrastination among students at SMP Negeri A Jakarta and SMP Negeri B Jakarta. The study employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The study population consists of 706 students, with a sample of 371 students selected using the Slovin formula and proportional random sampling technique. The instruments used include the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS) developed by Bruce W. Tuckman and adapted by Galindo & Olivas (2022), the Education Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) developed by Sun, Dunne, & Hou (2011), and the Self-Regulation of Learning Scale (SRL-SRS) developed by Toering et al. (2012). Hypothesis testing was conducted using product-moment correlation tests and multiple linear regression. The results of the product-moment correlation analysis showed a significant negative relationship between academic stress and academic procrastination (r = –0.632; p < 0.01), as well as a significant negative relationship between self-regulation and academic procrastination (r = –0.430; p < 0.01). Multiple regression analysis also showed that academic stress and self-regulation simultaneously had a significant effect on academic procrastination (R = 0.704; Adjusted R² = 0.493). The results of this study emphasize the importance of effective collaboration between students, guidance counselors, and parents in time management and emotional regulation to reduce academic procrastination. Synergistic support from all three creates a conducive learning environment, strengthens student responsibility, and opens opportunities for more appropriate and comprehensive interventions in the future. Keywords: academic stress, self-regulation learning, academic procrastination.
