Abstract
Membaca sebagai bagian dari kompetensi pendidikan dasar perlu dikuasai siswa sekolah dasar. Terlebih pada membaca pemahaman interpretatif yang mengidentifikasi pesan pesan secara langsung atau tidak langsung yang akan membantu siswa mengerti teks bacaan secara mendalam. Teks cerpen selain menghibur juga memiliki banyak pesan moral yang dapat siswa aplikasikan pada kehidupan sehari-hari, namun ditemukan 24 dari 26 siswa kelas V SDN Karang Tengah 8 yang mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan makna tersirat, mengidentifikasi ide pokok dan sebab akibat, menjelaskan pesan moral, memberikan pendapat, dan menyimpulkan teks cerita pendek. Oleh karena itu, metode SQ3R diterapkan dengan kegiatan survei, pertanyaan, baca, menyampaikan kembali, dan peninjauan ulang untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman interpretatif teks cerita pendek siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan pada dua siklus. Terdapat peningkatan sebesar 42,31 poin atau 122,2% di antara siklus I dan siklus II setelah diberlakukan metode SQ3R terhadap siswa kelas VB SDN Karang Tengah 8 yang terlihat berdasarkan hasil tes evaluasi dan instrumen pemantauan tindakan. Especially in interpretive reading comprehension that identifies the message directly or indirectly that will help students understand the reading text in depth. Short story texts in addition to entertaining also have many moral messages that students can apply to their daily lives, but it was found that 24 out of 26 grade V students of SDN Karang Tengah 8 experienced difficulties in determining the implied meaning, identifying the main idea and cause and effect, explaining moral messages, giving opinions, and concluding short story texts. Therefore, the SQ3R method is applied with survey, question, reading, resubmitting, and review activities to improve students' interpretive reading comprehension skills of short story texts. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. There was an increase of 42.31 points or 122.2% between cycle I and cycle II after the implementation of the SQ3R method for students in class VB SDN Karang Tengah 8 which was seen based on the results of evaluation tests and action monitoring instruments.
