Abstract

Ilmu pengetahuan dalam ranah sains difokuskan pada proses penelitian dan penyelesaian masalah yang menuntut kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir secara kritis untuk memahami fenomena alam. Kemampuan berpikir kritis tersebut perlu dikembangkan agar siswa dapat menguasai konsep-konsep sains yang kompleks secara lebih mendalam. Namun, berbagai studi menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih tergolong rendah. Hal ini disebabkan oleh keterbatasan guru dalam mengeksplorasi model pembelajaran yang tepat dan media pembelajaran yang menarik. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang berpotensi mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis adalah model problem based learning (PBL) berbantuan google earth. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran PBL berbantuan google earth terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi perubahan lingkungan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experiment dengan posttest only control group design. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 32 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrument tes kemampuan berpikir kritis berdasarkan indikator Ennis dan instrument non tes berupa lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan uji independent sample T-test pada α=0,05 menghasilkan nilai signifikansi 0,038. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model PBL berbantuan google earth terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMA pada materi perubahan lingkungan. Penggunaan google earth dalam pembelajaran PBL ini dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi perubahan lingkungan dalam pembelajaran Biologi di sekolah. Selain itu, hal ini juga dapat memperkuat peran teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran.***** Science education focuses on the process of research and problem-solving, which requires students to think critically in order to understand natural phenomena. Critical thinking skills need to be developed so that students can gain a deeper understanding of complex scientific concepts. However, various studies show that students' critical thinking skills are still relatively low. This may be due to teachers' limitations in exploring appropriate learning models and engaging learning media. One learning model that has the potential to develop critical thinking skills is the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by google earth. This study aims to analyze the effect of the PBL learning model assisted by google earth on students' critical thinking skills in the environmental change topic. The research method used was a quasi-experiment with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 32 students in the experimental and control groups. The instruments used were a critical thinking ability test based on the Ennis indicators and a non-test instrument in the form of an observation sheet on the implementation of learning. The results of the hypothesis test using the independent sample T-test at α=0.05 produced a significance value of 0.038. This indicates that there was an effect of the PBL model assisted by google earth on the critical thinking skills of high school students on the topic of environmental change. The use of google earth in PBL learning can be an effective alternative for developing students' critical thinking skills on the subject of environmental change in biology lessons at school. In addition, it can also strengthen the role of technology in the learning process.
