Abstract
Kegiatan praktikum di Fakultas Teknik memiliki potensi risiko tinggi akibat penggunaan mesin, peralatan berbahaya, panas, listrik, dan bahan kimia, sehingga memerlukan penerapan budaya keselamatan yang kuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat budaya keselamatan mahasiswa Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FT UNJ) menggunakan pendekatan European Commercial Aviation Safety Team (ECAST) serta memetakan tingkat kematangan budaya keselamatannya (safety maturity level). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan populasi 5.382 mahasiswa dari 19 program studi. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner berisi 67 pernyataan yang mencakup enam dimensi budaya keselamatan ECAST, yaitu commitment, behaviour, awareness, adaptability, information, dan justness. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh program studi berada pada tingkat kematangan budaya keselamatan proactive dengan kecenderungan menuju generative. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa sistem keselamatan telah diterapkan, namun belum sepenuhnya terinternalisasi sebagai budaya yang konsisten dalam perilaku mahasiswa. Dimensi awareness memperoleh skor tertinggi, yang menunjukkan tingkat kesadaran risiko yang baik, sedangkan dimensi information dan justness memperoleh skor terendah, mencerminkan keterbatasan pelatihan keselamatan serta belum optimalnya sistem pelaporan insiden. Penelitian ini menegaskan perlunya penguatan budaya keselamatan melalui peningkatan pelatihan keselamatan yang terstruktur, penguatan perilaku keselamatan mahasiswa, serta perbaikan sistem informasi dan fasilitas laboratorium untuk mendukung kegiatan praktikum yang aman dan berkelanjutan. ***** Practical activities in engineering faculties involve high potential risks due to the use of machinery, hazardous equipment, heat, electricity, and chemical substances, thereby requiring the implementation of a strong safety culture. This study aims to analyze the level of safety culture among students of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (FT UNJ), using the European Commercial Aviation Safety Team (ECAST) approach and to map its safety maturity level. This research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a population of 5,382 students from 19 study programs. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 67 statements covering six ECAST safety culture dimensions: commitment, behaviour, awareness, adaptability, information, and justness. The results indicate that almost all study programs are positioned at the proactive level of safety culture maturity, with a tendency toward the generative level. This finding suggests that safety systems have been implemented; however, safety has not yet been fully internalized as a consistent culture in students’ daily practices. The awareness dimension obtained the highest score, indicating a relatively good level of risk awareness, while the information and justness dimensions recorded the lowest scores, reflecting limitations in safety training and the suboptimal implementation of incident reporting systems. The implications of this study highlight the need to strengthen safety culture through structured safety training, reinforcement of safe behaviors among students, and improvement of safety information systems and laboratory facilities to support safe and sustainable practical learning activities.
