Abstract
***** The COVID-19 pandemic caused major disruptions to Indonesia’s tourism industry, making the post-pandemic period a critical phase for recovery and sectoral transformation. Online media plays a strategic role in shaping public perception, influencing traveler confidence, and supporting the national tourism recovery agenda. This study aims to analyze how online media coverage portrays the development of Indonesia’s tourism industry after COVID-19 by addressing key questions regarding dominant themes, tone of reporting, and the main issues emphasized in the news. The research employs a qualitative descriptive design using content analysis of tourism-related articles from selected national online media outlets. Data were collected through documentation techniques and systematically analyzed by categorizing themes, key actors, and news framing patterns. The findings indicate that online media coverage tends to highlight narratives of economic recovery, adaptation to health protocols, tourism digitalization, and the roles of government and industry stakeholders. These results contribute to a deeper understanding of how media discourse supports public optimism and aligns with post-pandemic tourism recovery strategies. In conclusion, online media has a significant influence in shaping the tourism recovery narrative in Indonesia; therefore, future studies are recommended to further examine the impact of such coverage on tourist behavior and tourism policy through more empirical approaches.
