Abstract

***** Preterm infants have limited thermoregulation ability and therefore require an environment with stable and controlled temperature. Baby incubators function as the primary medium for maintaining this thermal condition; however, conventional control systems are generally less adaptive to dynamic temperature changes. This research aims to design and develop a microcontroller-based baby incubator system using the Fuzzy Logic control method to improve the stability of temperature regulation and temperature variation inside the incubator chamber. The system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller with a DHT21 sensor to detect temperature and temperature changes. Temperature control is carried out using a PTC module as a heater and a Peltier module as a cooler, which are automatically controlled through the Fuzzy Logic method. The input variables consist of temperature and temperature change, which are processed to produce adaptive control outputs, and the system is equipped with an Internet of Things (IoT)–based monitoring feature using Firebase for real-time monitoring. The test results show that the system is capable of maintaining temperature stability within the predetermined range and provides a smoother control response compared to conventional systems, making it feasible to be further developed as a prototype of an automatic baby incubator. Keywords: Baby incubator, ESP32, DHT21, Fuzzy Logic, temperature control, IoT.
