Fatimah Sekar Kinasih. 2026. Pleonasme dalam Novel Notre-Dame de Paris karya Victor Hugo. Skripsi, Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Prancis, Fakultas Bahasa dan Seni, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. Skripsi ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis-jenis pleonasme yang terdapat pada novel Notre-Dame de Paris karya Victor Hugo. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori oleh Grevisse (2007) dalam bukunya yang berjudul Le Bon Usage. Menurut Grevisse, pleonasme terbagi menjadi dua jenis yaitu pleonasme leksikal dan gramatikal. Pleonasme gramatikal disebut juga sebagai redondance (redundansi) dan terbagi menjadi empat kategori kecil, yang adalah redondance habituelle, redondance due au souci de la clarté, redondance expressive, serta redondance diverse. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi dan teknik dokumentasi sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Data pada penelitian diperoleh dengan membaca novel Notre-Dame de Paris dan mencari kalimat yang mengandung pleonasme. Kalimat-kalimat yang sudah terkumpul dibagi sesuai dengan indikator dari masing-masing kategori. Analisis isi dilakukan dalam tiga tahap, sesuai dengan teknik dari Miles dan Huberman: mereduksi data sesuai dengan klasifikasi, menyajikan data dalam bentuk tabel, lalu menarik kesimpulan berdasarkan keseluruhan proses penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan data sejumlah 30, yang terdiri dari 11 kutipan pleonasme leksikal dan 19 pleonasme gramatikal. Dari 19 data pleonasme gramatikal, terdapat 13 data redondance habituelle, 6 data redondance expressive, serta 0 data untuk masing-masing redondance due au souci de la clarté dan redondance diverse. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pleonasme gramatikal banyak digunakan pada novel Notre-Dame de Paris sebagai sarana untuk menekankan maksud. Redondance due au souci de la clarté tidak ditemukan dalam novel Notre-Dame de Paris diperkiraan akibat gaya penulisan Victor Hugo yang tidak mendukung redondance tersebut dan redondance diverse yang juga tidak ditemukan karena lebih sering digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari. This thesis aims to identify and describe the types of pleonasms found in Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. The theoretical foundation is based on Grevisse (2007) in Le Bon Usage. He categorizes pleonasm into two types: lexical and grammatical. The latter, also called redondance (redundancy), is divided into four subcategories: habitual redundancy, redundancy for clarity, expressive redundancy, and diverse redundancy. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing the documentation technique as data collecting method. Data are obtained by reading the novel and pinpointing sentences that contain pleonasms, which are then classified by category indicators. The analysis proceeds in three stages based on Miles and Huberman’s method: reducing data according to categories, presenting data in tables, and drawing conclusions from the entire process. According to the results, 30 data points were identified, consisting of 11 sentences of lexical pleonasm and 19 sentences of grammatical pleonasm. Of the 19 sentences, 13 instances were habitual redundancy, 6 were expressive redundancy, and 0 were both redundancy due to concerns about clarity and diverse redundancy. The results show that grammatical pleonasm is widely used in The Hunchback of Notre-Dame to emphasize meaning. Redundancy for clarity isn’t found in the book, likely because Victor Hugo's writing style does not support this redundancy. Diverse redundancy is also not commonly found, as it is more frequently used in casual conversations than in written language.
