Abstract

BRICS+ merupakan kelompok ekonomi yang ingin mereformasi tatanan ekonomi dunia, namun kelompok ini masih dihadapkan oleh dinamika ekonomi yang cukup menantang. Terutama perekonomian moneter yang membicarakan nilai tukar, suku bunga, serta inflasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kausalitas dua arah antara nilai tukar, suku bunga, dan tingkat inflasi di negara anggota BRICS+ pada tahun 2015-2025. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder dan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) GMM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat pengaruh kausalitas searah maupun dua arah antara nilai tukar dan suku bunga, hasil uji kausalitas Granger menunjukkan bahwa nilai tukar tidak memengaruhi suku bunga, begitu pun sebaliknya suku bunga tidak memengaruhi nilai tukar. Sedangkan untuk variabel nilai tukar dan inflasi terdapat pengaruh kausalitas searah, di mana berdasarkan hasil kausalitas granger menunjukkan bahwa inflasi memengaruhi nilai tukar yang dibuktikan dari hasil probabilitasnya yang lebih kecil dari 0.05. Begitu pula dengan pengaruh antara suku bunga dan inflasi, berdasarkan hasil kausalitas granger suku bunga dan inflasi memiliki pengaruh searah, di mana suku bunga memengaruhi inflasi dibuktikan dari hasil probabilitasnya yang lebih kecil dari 0.05, serta nilai tukar dan suku bunga secara simultan memengaruhi inflasi. Temuan ini memperkuat argumen mengenai ekspektasi inflasi adaptif yang kerap mendominasi pembentukan harga di kelompok BRICS+. ***** BRICS+ is an economic group that aims to reform the global economic order, but it still faces significant economic challenges. These challenges primarily involve monetary policy issues such as exchange rates, interest rates, and inflation. This study aims to analyze the bidirectional causal relationship between exchange rates, interest rates, and inflation in BRICS+ member countries from 2015 to 2025. This study uses secondary data and a quantitative approach employing the Panel Vector Autoregression (PVAR) method. The results indicate that there is no unidirectional or bidirectional causal relationship between exchange rates and interest rates; the Granger causality test shows that exchange rates do not affect interest rates, and conversely, interest rates do not affect exchange rates. However, regarding the exchange rate and inflation, there is a one-way causal relationship; based on the Granger causality test results, inflation affects the exchange rate, as evidenced by a probability value less than 0.05. Similarly, regarding the relationship between interest rates and inflation, based on the Granger causality results, interest rates and inflation exhibit a unidirectional relationship, where interest rates influence inflation—as evidenced by a probability value less than 0.05—and both the exchange rate and interest rates simultaneously influence inflation. These findings reinforce the argument regarding adaptive inflation expectations that often dominate price formation within the BRICS+ group.
