Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik material komposit dari sisa produksi benang jahit melalui teknik stitching berdasarkan aspek reinforcement, matrix, interface, susunan dan orientasi material, kepadatan material, ketebalan dan pembentukan lapisan, keterikatan antar material, serta tekstur permukaan material. Metode penelitian yang digunakan merupakan metode eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif secara sistematis. Penilaian dilakukan menggunakan rating scale. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen angket atau kuesioner dengan variabel tunggal, yaitu penilaian karakteristik material komposit dari sisa produksi benang jahit melalui teknik stitching. Penelitian melibatkan 5 panelis ahli yang menilai lima material komposit yang dihasilkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penilaian keseluruhan terhadap kelima material komposit memperoleh persentase sebesar 81,13% dan termasuk dalam kategori Sangat Baik (SB). Aspek yang memperoleh nilai tertinggi adalah keterikatan antar material dengan persentase sebesar 86,4% dan termasuk kategori Sangat Baik (SB), sedangkan aspek dengan nilai terendah adalah reinforcement dengan persentase sebesar 76,0% dan termasuk kategori Baik (B). Material 5 memperoleh nilai tertinggi sebesar 85,78% dengan kategori Sangat Baik (SB), sedangkan Material 4 memperoleh nilai terendah sebesar 74,22% dengan kategori Baik (B). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sisa produksi benang jahit memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai material alternatif dalam produk busana melalui penerapan teknik stitching. Kata Kunci: Material Komposit, Sisa Produksi Benang Jahit, Teknik Stitching. ***** This study aimed to determine the characteristics of composite materials made from sewing thread production waste through the stitching technique based on the aspects of reinforcement, matrix, interface, material arrangement and orientation, material density, thickness and layer formation, interfacial bonding, and surface texture. The method used in this research was an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The assessment was personally conducted using a rating scale. Data were collected through questionnaires with a single variable, namely the evaluation of the characteristics of composite materials made from sewing thread production waste through the stitching technique. The study involved five expert panelists who evaluated five composite material samples. The results showed that the overall assessment of the five composite materials obtained a percentage score of 81.13% and was categorized as Very Good (VG). The highest score was achieved by the interfacial bonding aspect with a percentage of 86.4%, which was categorized as Very Good (VG), while the reinforcement aspect obtained the lowest score of 76.0%, which was categorized as Good (G). Material 5 obtained the highest score of 85.78% and was categorized as Very Good (VG), whereas Material 4 obtained the lowest score of 74.22% and was categorized as Good (G). The findings indicate that sewing thread production waste has the potential to be developed as an alternative material for fashion products through the application of the stitching technique.
