Abstract
The 540° kick is one of the most advanced techniques in freestyle taekwondo poomsae, requiring a combination of explosive power, dynamic balance, coordination, and body control during the take-off, aerial rotation, kicking phase, and landing. Preliminary observations, supported by the Vertical Jump Test and the Y Balance Test assessments conducted on athletes of the Taekwondo Achievement Club of Universitas Negeri Jakarta (KOP Taekwondo UNJ), indicated that several athletes exhibited insufficient lower-limb power and dynamic balance, resulting in suboptimal execution of the 540° kick. This study aimed to develop a training model integrating plyometric and dynamic balance exercises to improve the performance of the 540° kick among KOP Taekwondo UNJ athletes. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE framework, which consisted of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The development process began with a needs analysis through field observations, a literature review, and physical assessments using the Vertical Jump Test and the Y Balance Test. Based on these findings, a series of training models was designed and subsequently evaluated by taekwondo experts, strength and conditioning coaches, and academic specialists before field implementation. The final product consisted of 22 training models that systematically combined plyometric and dynamic balance exercises to enhance lower-body explosive power, postural stability, movement coordination, and technical execution of the 540° kick. The developed model is expected to provide a valid, practical, and effective training reference for coaches and athletes while contributing to the advancement of evidence-based training programs in freestyle poomsae.
