Abstract

Indonesia menjadi negara pengirim migran terbesar kedua di ASEAN pada tahun 2021. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh nilai tukar rupiah terhadap mata uang negara tujuan, tingkat pengangguran, dan stabilitas politik negara tujuan terhadap volume migrasi internasional Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan data panel pada lima negara tujuan utama Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Jepang, dan Singapura dalam periode 2015–2024. Nilai tukar diambil dari UNCTAD, sedangkan data tingkat pengangguran dan indeks stabilitas politik diperoleh dari World Bank. Analisis dilakukan lewat regresi data panel dengan Fixed Effects Model (FEM). Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) nilai tukar berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap migrasi internasional Pekerja Migran Indonesia (PMI), (2) tingkat pengangguran di negara tujuan berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan, (3) stabilitas politik negara tujuan tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa migrasi internasional pekerja Indonesia disebabkan oleh faktor ekonomi. Oleh karena itu, kebijkan yang mendukung stabilitas nilai tukar dalam negeri dan transparansi informasi kondisi ketenagakerjaan di luar negeri perlu ditingkatkan sebagai strategi perlindungan pekerja migran Indonesia. **** Indonesia became the second largest migrant-sending country in ASEAN in 2021. This study aims to analyze the effect of the rupiah exchange rate against the currency of the destination country, the unemployment rate, and the political stability of the destination country on the volume of international migration of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI). This study uses a quantitative approach with panel data on five main destination countries: Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, and Singapore for the period 2015–2024. Exchange rates are taken from UNCTAD, while unemployment rate data and the political stability index are obtained from the World Bank. The analysis was conducted through panel data regression with a Fixed Effects Model (FEM). The research findings indicate that: (1) the exchange rate has a negative and significant effect on the international migration of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI), (2) the unemployment rate in the destination country has a negative and significant effect, (3) the political stability of the destination country has an insignificant effect. These findings indicate that international migration of Indonesian workers is caused by economic factors. Therefore, policies that support domestic exchange rate stability and transparency of information on employment conditions abroad need to be improved as a strategy to protect Indonesian migrant workers
