Abstract
Pendidikan abad ke-21 menuntut pengembangan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi, khususnya kompetensi argumentasi ilmiah dalam pembelajaran sains. Namun kenyataannya kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa di Indonesia masih rendah, umumnya hanya terbatas pada penyampaian klaim dan data. Sebagai solusi atas permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini menerapkan integrasi debat aktif dalam model pembelajaran Argument-Driven Inquiry. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh integrasi debat aktif dalam model Argument-Driven Inquiry terhadap kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa SMA pada materi perubahan iklim. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent (Pretest-Posttest) Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 60 siswa kelas X di SMA di Jakarta yang dipilih melalui teknik simple random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui instrumen tes kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah dan lembar observasi. Hasil pengujian hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,001 (p < 0,05). Berdasarkan hasil pengujian hipotesis tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa integrasi debat aktif dalam model Argument-Driven Inquiry berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa. Integrasi tersebut terbukti efektif memperkuat kualitas argumentasi ilmiah siswa, sehingga dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif untuk mengembangkan kemampuan argumentasi ilmiah siswa pada materi perubahan iklim. ***** 21st-century education demands the development of higher-order thinking skills, particularly scientific argumentation skills in science learning. However, Indonesian students' scientific argumentation skills remain underdeveloped and are generally limited to presenting claims and data. To address this issue, this study integrated active debate into the Argument-Driven Inquiry learning model to examine its effect on senior high school students’ scientific argumentation skills in climate change topics. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Pretest–Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 60 tenth-grade students from senior high school in Jakarta, selected through simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a scientific argumentation skills test and an observation sheet. The results of hypothesis testing using an Independent Sample T-Test showed a significance value of 0.001 (p < 0.05). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the integration of active debate into the Argument-Driven Inquiry model has a significant effect on students’ scientific argumentation skills. This integration proved effective in enhancing the quality of students' scientific arguments, making it an effective alternative for developing students’ scientific argumentation skills in climate change topics.
