Abstract
Rendahnya minat situasional siswa pada pembelajaran kimia dan kurangnya penelitian mengkaji virtual reality laboratory (VRL) menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh penggunaan virtual reality laboratory (VRL) terhadap minat situasional siswa pada materi hukum dasar kimia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test non-equivalent control group. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling yang melibatkan 91 siswa kelas X dari dua kelas utuh di sebuah SMA negeri di Bekasi pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan VRL, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan video YouTube. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah angket Situational Interest Scale (SIS) dengan skala Likert 5 poin. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan independent sample t-test serta paired t-test. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan virtual reality meningkatkan minat situasional siswa di kedua kelas. Namun, virtual reality memberikan pengaruh lebih besar terhadap minat situasional siswa kelas eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol dengan (p < 0,001; Cohen's d = 1,415). Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa VRL efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan minat situasional siswa SMA pada materi hukum dasar kimia, yang memberikan implikasi berharga untuk mengintegrasikan VRL pada siswa SMA. This study aimed to examine the effect of using a virtual reality laboratory (VRL) on students’ situational interest in the subject matter of the basic laws of chemistry. This study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test design using non-equivalent control groups. This study employed a purposive sampling technique involving 91 tenth-grade students from two full classes at a public high school in Bekasi during the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. The experimental class used the VRL, while the control class used YouTube videos. The instrument used was the Situational Interest Scale (SIS) questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, an independent-samples t-test, and a paired t-test. The results showed that the use of virtual reality increased students’ situational interest in both classes. However, virtual reality had a greater effect on the situational interest of students in the experimental class compared to the control class (p < 0,001; Cohen's d = 1,415). These results confirm that VRL is effective as a learning medium for enhancing high school students’ situational interest in the subject matter of the fundamental laws of chemistry, which provides valuable implications for integrating VRL into high school education.
