Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah peserta didik pada materi Hukum Dasar Kimia. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih rendahnya keterampilan pemecahan masalah peserta didik dalam pembelajaran kimia serta masih dominannya penggunaan pendekatan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada guru. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas dua kelas X di SMA Negeri 102 Jakarta Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026, yaitu satu kelas sebagai kelas eksperimen yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan satu kelas sebagai kelas kontrol yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan Saintifik 5M. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes uraian berbasis indikator keterampilan pemecahan masalah menurut Polya yang telah melalui uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji N-Gain, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, Independent Sample tTest, dan Paired Sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata NGain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,78 (77,84%) dengan kategori tinggi, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,63 (62,56%) dengan kategori sedang. Hasil Independent Sample t-Test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,021 (p < 0,05), yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan peningkatan keterampilan pemecahan masalah yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih efektif dibandingkan pendekatan Saintifik 5M dalam meningkatkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah peserta didik pada materi Hukum Dasar Kimia kelas X. ***** This study aimed to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students' problem-solving skills on the topic of Fundamental Laws of Chemistry in tenth-grade senior high school students. The study was motivated by the relatively low level of students' problem-solving skills in chemistry learning and the continued dominance of teacher-centered instructional approaches. This research employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of two tenth-grade classes at SMA Negeri 102 Jakarta in the 2025/2026 academic year. One class was assigned as the experimental group and received instruction through the ProblemBased Learning (PBL) model, while the other served as the control group and was taught using the Scientific 5M approach. The research instrument was an essay test based on Polya's problem-solving indicators, which had been validated and tested for reliability. The collected data were analyzed using the N-Gain test, normality test, homogeneity test, Independent Sample t-test, and Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that the experimental class obtained a mean N-Gain score of 0.78 (77.84%), which was categorized as high, whereas the control class achieved a mean N-Gain score of 0.63 (62.56%), which fell into the moderate category. Furthermore, the Independent Sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.021 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference in the improvement of students' problem-solving skills between the two groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is more effective than the Scientific 5M approach in improving students' problem-solving skills on the topic of Fundamental Laws of Chemistry.
