Abstract
Kata Kunci: Solidaritas, Konflik Eksternal, Komunitas Skateboard ***** The solidarity that emerges within the skateboard community is fueled by collective experiences in the face of space restrictions, enforcement, and social stigma imposed by outsiders who view skateboarding as a threat to the city's order, safety, or aesthetics. The conflict between the skateboard community and security forces is not an isolated phenomenon, but rather part of the dynamics of social relations in urban public spaces. Therefore, this study has two objectives. First, to explain how internal solidarity is formed and maintained among skateboard community members. Second, to analyze external conflicts that occur between the skateboard community and security forces and other users of public spaces. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with informant subjects, and the preparation of literature documents. The research informants numbered five people, consisting of three members of the skateboard community with the characteristics of senior members, junior members, and active members, as well as two supporting informants, namely security officers in the Sudirman area and users of public spaces. Informants were selected purposively because they have direct experience with skateboarding activities and the dynamics of the use of public spaces in Sudirman. The technique used in data analysis is the Miles and Huberman Interactive Model. This study uses the perspective of Lewis A. Coser's functional conflict theory. The research results show that the internal solidarity of the skateboard community is formed through shared interests, routine skate sessions, relationships between seniors and juniors, sharing techniques, emotional support, and shared experiences in dealing with space restrictions. Conflicts with security forces and space users strengthen a sense of shared destiny, collective identity, and social cohesion among members. The skateboard community develops adaptation strategies through informal negotiations, spot changes, choosing playing times, communication between skaters, and the role of seniors in maintaining playing ethics. Therefore, conflict within the Sudirman skateboard community functions as a social mechanism that reproduces solidarity and maintains the community's existence in urban public spaces.
