Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman multirepresentasi siswa pada materi hidrolisis garam. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) terhadap pemahaman multirepresentasi siswa kelas XI. Penelitian menggunakan metode quasi experiment dengan desain Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Sampel terdiri atas 64 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu 32 siswa pada kelas eksperimen yang diajar menggunakan model POGIL dan 32 siswa pada kelas kontrol yang diajar menggunakan model Direct Instruction (DI). Data diperoleh melalui pretest dan posttest, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan Independent Sample T-Test, Paired Sample T-Test, perhitungan N-Gain, dan effect size. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata N-Gain kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,66 dan kelas kontrol sebesar 0,41 yang keduanya termasuk kategori sedang, namun peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi. Hasil Independent Sample T-Test menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelas (p < 0,05), sedangkan Paired Sample T-Test menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest pada masing-masing kelas (p < 0,05). Nilai effect size sebesar 1,22 menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model POGIL memberikan pengaruh yang sangat kuat terhadap peningkatan pemahaman multirepresentasi siswa pada materi hidrolisis garam. Kata kunci: POGIL, pemahaman multirepresentasi, hidrolisis garam. ***** This research is motivated by the low understanding of multirepresentation of students in the salt hydrolysis material. The study aims to determine the effect of the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning model on the understanding of multirepresentation of grade XI students. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 64 students selected using a purposive sampling technique, namely 32 students in the experimental class taught using the POGIL model and 32 students in the control class taught using the Direct Instruction (DI) model. Data were obtained through pretest and posttest, then analyzed using Independent Sample T-Test, Paired Sample T-Test, N-Gain calculation, and effect size. The results showed an average N-Gain of the experimental class of 0.66 and the control class of 0.41, both of which are in the medium category, but the increase in the experimental class was higher. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed a significant difference between the two classes (p < 0.05), while the Paired Sample T-Test showed a significant increase between the pretest and posttest scores in each class (p < 0.05). The effect size value of 1.22 indicates that the application of the POGIL model has a very strong influence on improving students' multi-representation understanding of salt hydrolysis material.
