Abstract

Perkembangan pembelajaran berbasis situs web menjadikan kualitas user interface (UI) dan user experience (UX) sebagai salah satu aspek penting dalam pengembangan aplikasi e-learning. Salah satu model pengembangan yang banyak digunakan adalah model Four-D (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) yang dikembangkan oleh Thiagarajan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model Four-D dalam perancangan UI/UX aplikasi e-learning berbasis situs web menggunakan pendekatan Narrative Literature Review (NLR). Kajian dilakukan terhadap 15 artikel jurnal yang diterbitkan pada periode 2021–2025. Analisis difokuskan pada penerapan tahapan model Four-D, platform yang digunakan, instrumen penelitian, serta hasil pengembangan produk. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa 9 dari 15 penelitian (60%) telah menerapkan seluruh tahapan model Four-D, sedangkan 6 penelitian (40%) hanya sampai tahap Design atau Develop. Tahap Define dan Design berperan dalam analisis kebutuhan pengguna serta penyusunan storyboard, wireframe, dan mockup. Pada tahap Develop, penelitian umumnya melakukan validasi oleh ahli dan uji coba kepada pengguna dalam jumlah terbatas. Platform yang paling banyak digunakan adalah Google Sites (33,4%), diikuti Learning Management System (LMS) seperti Moodle, Efront, dan Edukati (20%). Kajian ini juga menemukan bahwa belum ada penelitian yang menggunakan instrumen usability terstandardisasi, seperti System Usability Scale (SUS) atau User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). Selain itu, tahap Disseminate masih terbatas dan jumlah responden pada beberapa penelitian relatif sedikit. Oleh karena itu, penelitian selanjutnya disarankan menggunakan instrumen evaluasi UI/UX yang terstandardisasi serta melibatkan lebih banyak pengguna. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Four-D model in designing the UI/UX of web-based e-learning applications using the Narrative Literature Review (NLR) approach. The review analyzed 15 journal articles published between 2021 and 2025. The analysis focused on the implementation of the Four-D model stages, the platforms used, the research instruments, and the product development outcomes. The findings indicate that 9 out of 15 studies (60%) implemented all four stages of the Four-D model, while the remaining 6 studies (40%) only applied the model up to the Design or Develop stage. The Define and Design stages played an important role in user needs analysis and the development of storyboards, wireframes, and mockups. During the Develop stage, most studies conducted expert validation and limited user testing. Google Sites was the most frequently used platform (33.4%), followed by Learning Management Systems (LMSs) such as Moodle, Efront, and Edukati (20%). The review also found that none of the studies employed standardized usability evaluation instruments, such as the System Usability Scale (SUS) or the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ). In addition, the Disseminate stage was generally implemented on a limited scale, and several studies involved relatively small numbers of participants. Therefore, future research is recommended to adopt standardized UI/UX evaluation instruments and involve a larger number of users.
