Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi penambahan seng (Zn) terhadap sifat mekanik dan ketahanan korosi paduan Al-Zn hasil proses gravity die casting. Metode yang digunakan merupakan eksperimen dengan variasi komposisi Zn sebesar 2wt.%, 5wt.%, dan 10wt.%. Pengujian yang dilakukan meliputi uji tarik, uji kekerasan vickers, dan uji ketahanan korosi menggunakan metode elektrokimia polarisasi potensiodinamik dalam larutan 3,5% NaCl. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa variasi penambahan Zn memberikan pengaruh terhadap sifat mekanik dan ketahanan korosi paduan Al-Zn. Pada pengujian tarik, aluminium murni memiliki nilai ultimate tensile strength (UTS) tertinggi sebesar 143,70 MPa dengan nilai elongasi 11,08%. Penambahan Zn menyebabkan nilai UTS menurun pada variasi 2wt.% dan 5wt.%, kemudian meningkat kembali pada Zn 10wt.%. Nilai elongasi menunjukkan kecenderungan menurun seiring bertambahnya kandungan Zn, sedangkan nilai kekerasan pada variasi Zn 10wt.% meningkat dan mencapai nilai tertinggi sebesar 72,62 HV. Pada pengujian korosi, aluminium murni memiliki ketahanan korosi terbaik dengan laju korosi terendah sebesar 0,74 mm/year jika dibandingkan dengan penambahan variasi Zn yang menunjukkan peningkatan pada laju korosi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan Zn pada aluminium mampu meningkatkan kekerasan, namun cenderung menurunkan keuletan dan ketahanan korosi material. ***** This study aimed to analyzed the effect of zinc (Zn) addition at different compositions on the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of Al-Zn alloys produced by the gravity die casting process. An experimental method was employed using Zn additions of 2wt.%, 5wt.%, and 10wt.%. The tests conducted included tensile testing, Vickers hardness testing, and corrosion testing using the electrochemical potentiodynamic polarization method in a 3.5% NaCl solution. The results showed that variations in Zn addition significantly affected the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the Al-Zn alloys. In the tensile test, pure aluminium exhibited the highest ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 143.70 MPa with an elongation of 11.08%. The addition of Zn caused the UTS to decrease at 2wt.% and 5wt.% Zn, followed by an increase at 10wt.% Zn. Meanwhile, the elongation tended to decrease with increasing Zn content, whereas the hardness increased and reached the highest value of 72.62 HV at 10wt.% Zn. In the corrosion test, pure aluminium exhibited the best corrosion resistance with the lowest corrosion rate of be concluded that the addition of Zn to aluminium improves hardness but tends to reduce ductility and corrosion resistance.
