Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh conformity to masculine norms terhadap attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help pada laki-laki Generasi Z. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain noneksperimental. Sebanyak 305 laki-laki Generasi Z berusia 18—29 tahun diperoleh menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help diukur menggunakan Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale – Short Form yang diadaptasi oleh Nurdiyanto dkk. (2021), sedangkan conformity to masculine norms diukur menggunakan Conformity to Masculine Norms Inventory – 30 yang dikembangkan oleh Levant dkk. (2020). Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan analisis regresi linear sederhana menunjukkan bahwa conformity to masculine norms berpengaruh negatif secara signifikan terhadap attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help dengan kontribusi sebesar 1,7%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi tingkat kepatuhan laki-laki Generasi Z terhadap norma maskulinitas, semakin negatif sikap mereka terhadap pencarian bantuan psikologis profesional. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendorong laki-laki Generasi Z untuk lebih terbuka dalam memanfaatkan layanan kesehatan mental serta menjadi referensi bagi praktisi kesehatan mental dalam merancang intervensi maupun kampanye yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan sikap positif terhadap pencarian bantuan psikologis profesional. ***** This study aimed to examine the effect of conformity to masculine norms on attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help among Generation Z males. This study employed a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design. A total of 305 Generation Z males aged 18—29 years were recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help was measured using the Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Scale – Short Form adapted by Nurdiyanto et al. (2021), while conformity to masculine norms was measured using the Conformity to Masculine Norms Inventory – 30 developed by Levant et al. (2020). Hypothesis testing was conducted using simple linear regression analysis, which showed that conformity to masculine norms had a significant negative effect on attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help, accounting for 1,7% of the variance. These findings indicate that the higher Generation Z males conform to masculine norms, the more negative their attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help. This study is expected to encourage Generation Z males to be more open to utilizing mental health services and to serve as a reference for mental health practitioners in designing interventions and campaigns aimed at promoting more positive attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help.
