Abstract

***** This study aims to examine the effect of father involvement on marriage readiness among emerging adult men. The study employed a quantitative approach and involved approximately 199 young adult male participants who were unmarried and had a living father, using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using the Sukoon Marital Readiness Scale (SMRS) to measure marriage readiness and the Reported Father Involvement Scale (R-FIS) to measure father involvement. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics Version 29. The results of the study indicate that father involvement has a positive and significant effect on marriage readiness among young adult men (F = 10.265; p = 0.002; β = 0.223). The R² value of 0.05 indicates that father involvement accounts for 5% of the variation in marriage readiness, while the remaining 95% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. These findings suggest that individuals who perceive higher levels of father involvement throughout their development tend to exhibit higher levels of marriage readiness. Therefore, father involvement may serve as one of the factors contributing to the development of marriage readiness among emerging adult men.
