Abstract
***** The management of the free drinking water station at the Jami' Al-Mukhlis Mosque in Sunter, which is still done manually, is prone to overfilling and is difficult to track. This study aims to design, implement, and test a prototype of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based automated control system for the free drinking water station to limit daily quotas and monitor water distribution efficiently. This study employs the Research and Development (R&D) method using the V-Model product development framework. The system is controlled by an ESP32 DEVKIT-V1 microcontroller board, combined with a PN532 RFID sensor for user identity authentication, an FS300A water flow sensor to measure the volume of a 19-liter water gallon, an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to read the water level in the drinking water tank, and an infrared sensor to detect the position of the water gallon. The system is also equipped with an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and dual data logging capabilities via an SD card module and Google Spreadsheet integration. Test results show that the system operates very well. The RFID module has a 100% accuracy rate for reading Unique Identifiers (UIDs). The Water Flow Sensor recorded an accuracy rate of 98.93% with an average volume discrepancy of 15 ml, and the system successfully and precisely limited the refill quota to 1 gallon per day for registered users. Data synchronization between local and cloud storage runs automatically and without issues. In conclusion, this study successfully designed, implemented, and tested a prototype of an automated control system for the free drinking water station at the Jami’ Al-Mukhlis Mosque in Sunter, based on the Internet of Things.
