Abstract
This research is motivated by the power supply vulnerability of critical domestic devices, such as Wi-Fi routers and aquarium circulation pumps, which solely rely on a single supply line from Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). The purpose of this study is to design, build, and analyze the performance of an Internet of Things (IoT)-based Smart Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) DC system as a seamless backup power solution. The method used in this study is the Engineering Design Process (EDP) with data collection techniques in the form of functional testing, electrical sensor accuracy calibration, and power transition delay measurement within a household environment in Bekasi. The results showed that the developed Smart ATS DC prototype is capable of transferring power from PLN to the battery in 150 ms and back to PLN in 120 ms, ensuring critical loads remain active (Always ON) without restarting. In addition, instrument calibration testing recorded high precision with an average sensor reading error below 1% for the voltage sensor and below 2.5% for the ACS712 current sensor, and the automated LVD system successfully secured the battery at a critical voltage of 11.80 V. The conclusion of this study is that the IoT-based Smart ATS DC prototype has been successfully realized modularly, operates fully automatically, proves highly reliable in maintaining power continuity for critical household loads, and simplifies remote monitoring via smartphone
