Abstract
Kemampuan berpikir kritis merupakan keterampilan penting dalam pembelajaran biologi, khususnya pada materi ekosistem yang kompleks. Namun, rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa serta keterbatasan media pembelajaran interaktif masih menjadi tantangan dan berpotensi menimbulkan miskonsepsi. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan media pembelajaran inovatif berbasis pemecahan masalah untuk mendukung keterlibatan aktif siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan media IRS Ecosync Puzzle berbasis Problem Based Learning serta menguji kelayakan dan efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Hannafin and Peck melalui tahapan need assessment, design, serta development and implementation. Uji efektivitas dilakukan menggunakan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian meliputi ahli media, ahli materi, ahli bahasa, guru biologi, dan siswa kelas X SMA di Bekasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media IRS Ecosync Puzzle memperoleh kategori sangat layak berdasarkan penilaian para ahli, guru, dan siswa. Selain itu, media yang dikembangkan terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi ekosistem, yang ditunjukkan oleh adanya peningkatan hasil belajar setelah penggunaan media dengan tingkat peningkatan pada kategori sedang. Implikasi penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa media IRS Ecosync Puzzle berbasis Problem Based Learning berpotensi digunakan sebagai alternatif media pembelajaran inovatif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi ekosistem. ***** Critical thinking is a crucial skill in biology education, particularly when dealing with complex topics such as ecosystems. However, students low critical thinking skills and a lack of interactive learning media remain challenges that can potentially lead to misconceptions. Therefore, there is a need for innovative, problem solving based learning media to foster active student engagement. This study aimed to develop the IRS Ecosync Puzzle a learning tool based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and to evaluate its feasibility and effectiveness in enhancing students critical thinking skills. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed using the Hannafin and Peck model, comprising needs assessment, design, and development and implementation phases. Effectiveness was assessed using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study involved media experts, subject matter experts, linguists, biology teachers, and 10th-grade high school students in Bekasi. The results indicate that the IRS Ecosync Puzzle was rated as highly feasible by experts, teachers, and students. Furthermore, the developed medium proved effective in improving students critical thinking skills regarding ecosystems; learning outcomes improved following its use, with the magnitude of improvement falling into the moderate category. The study suggests that the Problem Based Learning based IRS Ecosync Puzzle has the potential to serve as an innovative alternative learning tool for enhancing students critical thinking skills in the study of ecosystems.
