Abstract

Sistem perangkai kereta merupakan komponen penting yang berfungsi menghubungkan antar kereta serta meneruskan gaya tarik dan tekan selama operasional. Pada kereta penumpang di PT Kereta Api Indonesia UPT BalaiYasa Manggarai ditemukan kerusakan berupa crack pada coupler type E yang berpotensi menurunkan keandalan dan keselamatan operasional kereta api. Kerusakan tersebut diduga disebabkan oleh pembebanan berulang, kelelahan material (fatigue), benturan operasional, serta faktor lingkungan dan kualitas material. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat keandalan sistem perangkai, mengidentifikasi penyebab terjadinya crack, serta mengetahui karakteristik kegagalan pada coupler type E. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif, kuantitatif dengan pendekatan failure analysis dan analisis keandalan menggunakan distribusi Weibull. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi lapangan, dokumentasi kerusakan, wawancara, dan data riwayat perawatan komponen. Analisis dilakukan menggunakan diagram fishbone untuk menentukan faktor penyebab kerusakan serta perhitungan keandalan untuk mengetahui probabilitas kegagalan dan estimasi umur pakai komponen. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar dalam menentukan strategi perawatan yang lebih efektif guna meningkatkan keselamatan dan keandalan operasional kereta api.*****The train coupling system is a critical component that connects train cars and transmits tensile and compressive forces during operation. In passenger trains at PT Kereta Api Indonesia UPT BalaiYasa Manggarai, damage in the form of cracks was found on Type E couplers, which has the potential to reduce the reliability and operational safety of trains. This damage is suspected to be caused by repeated loading, material fatigue, operational impacts, as well as environmental factors and material quality. This study aims to analyze the reliability level of the coupling system, identify the causes of the cracks, and determine the failure characteristics of Type E couplers. The research methods employed include qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing failure analysis and reliability analysis based on the Weibull distribution. Research data were obtained through field observations, damage documentation, interviews, and component maintenance history records. Analysis was performed using a fishbone diagram to determine the factors causing damage, as well as reliability calculations to determine the probability of failure and estimate the service life of the components. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for determining more effective maintenance strategies to improve railway safety and operational reliability.
