Abstract

The halal cosmetics industry in Indonesia continues to grow as Muslim consumers become increasingly aware of the halal status of products they use. This study aims to determine the effect of halal label perception on cosmetic purchase intention among Muslim students of the D4 Cosmetics and Beauty Care Study Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, class of 2022. This research employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sampling technique used was total sampling of the entire population of 57 respondents. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using simple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The results showed a regression coefficient of 0.302 with a significance value of 0.177 (> 0.05), meaning that H0 was accepted and Ha was rejected; halal label perception did not have a significant effect on cosmetic purchase intention among respondents. The coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.033 indicates that halal label perception only explains 3.3% of the variance in purchase intention, while the remaining 96.7% is explained by other factors such as product quality, price, brand image, and ingredient safety. The findings indicate that the perception of halal labels does not have a statistically significant effect on the purchase intention of cosmetics among students of the D4 Cosmetic and Beauty Care Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta.
