Abstract
***** This study aims to analyze the effect of land cover changes on Land Surface Temperature (LST) in DKI Jakarta in 2014 and 2024. The rapid growth of urbanization in DKI Jakarta has triggered significant land use conversion, transforming vegetation areas into built-up land. The method used is descriptive quantitative utilizing Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS satellite imagery. Data analysis was conducted through Supervised Classification for land cover, LST algorithm calculation, as well as spectral index analysis of NDVI and NDBI. The relationship between variables was tested using simple linear regression. The results show that within a decade, built-up land in DKI Jakarta increased from 79.3% to 87.5%, while vegetation shrank from 15.8% to 10.5%. These changes resulted in an increase in average LST, where built-up areas experienced the highest temperature rise of 2.17°C. Statistical test results indicate a very strong positive correlation between building density (NDBI) and LST (R² = 0.89), and a negative correlation between vegetation density (NDVI) and LST. This proves that the conversion of vegetation land into built-up areas is the dominant factor causing the increase in surface temperature in DKI Jakarta.
