Abstract

***** This study aimed to develop and test an Internet of Things (IoT)-based prototype rice dispenser for social assistance beneficiaries under laboratory conditions. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, while the technical development process followed the V-Model, which links requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit testing, and integration testing. The system used an ESP32 as the main controller, an RC522 RFID reader to read card UIDs, a load cell with an HX711 module to measure rice mass, an MG996R servo motor to control the dispensing valve, and a 20×4 LCD to display process status. Transaction data were transmitted over WiFi using the MQTT protocol to Node-RED and stored in a MySQL database on a local server. The tests covered the power supply, RFID reading, load-cell measurement, LCD display, servo motor, MQTT communication, Node-RED, and MySQL. The results showed that the 12 V and 5 V power supplies produced outputs of 11.2 V and 4.82 V, respectively. Three registered card UIDs were accepted, while two unregistered cards were rejected in the test scenarios. The load cell achieved a mean absolute error of 0.647% over a mass range of 100-2,000 g. The LCD displayed the required system status, the servo motor opened and closed the valve according to commands, and MQTT, Node-RED, and MySQL performed data transmission, visualization, and storage functions on the local network. These results indicate that the prototype performed its main functions as designed under laboratory conditions. This study did not include field testing, user acceptance testing, long-term mechanical durability, data security, or multi-user performance evaluation.
